Netherhall Gardens, London

Bennett Construction have been appointed by Urbanista to carry out the design and construction of the redevelopment of 11 Netherhall Gardens.

Development Summary

The works comprise of the demolition of the existing block and the provision of nine new apartments while retaining and underpinning the existing front facade, as well as the party wall with the adjoining property, No 9. The building will span over fice storeys with an overall gross floor area of approximately 2,328m2.

The existing building consists of a substantial 3 storey property which dates from the late Victorian Period.  The building was converted into a series of flats in the late 1940's.  Aside from the complicated temporary works required there will be significant interaction with Network Rail throughout the project as the Belsize Tunnel (carrying all rail traffic into and out of London to the midlands) sits just 10m below the site.

The site is located in a principally residential area near to Finchley Road but there are a number of independent schools and institutes located in the surrounding areas.  Bennett must continually ensure that the works are planned and carried out to minimise disruption to the neighbourhood.

The project will start on site in early 2012 with completion shceulded for mid 2013.
