Works Start on Site for Retail Giant Primark

Bennett Construction were appointed the Design and Build Contractor of a warehouse facility for Primark ·at Toughers Business Park at Naas in Kildare which forms an extension to the existing warehouse facility.

 

The building is approximately 120m wide and 131m long with an internal mezzanine element. The steel frame consists of ‘A’ frame portals in a 4 bay configuration with an eaves height of c 14.5m and an apex of 17m.· The cladding to the perimeter will be in a composite insulated panel over blockwork base walls to match with the existing facility. The external yard consists of c 24,000 m2 of concrete yard laid to falls with all associated drainage and underground services to cater for the extension of the existing facility.· The yard is ramped down to the new building to facilitate the introduction of 15 loading bays with dock levellers and all associated service requirements.

 

The main internal concrete slab of c 16,000 m2 is a high tolerance FM2 finish to facilitate the provision of extensive warehouse racking system.· The ground conditions necessitate the installation of 2100 precast piles to depth of approx 8m.

 

The scope of the works also includes for the upgrading of the existing internal structures and the underpinning of the existing foundations under the mezzanine area to facilitate additional internal loadings.· The works also include the construction of Electrical plant rooms, security control office and upgrading of the existing welfare facilities.
